Barack Obama presidential inauguration: an historic moment in branding history
With only a few days to left before Obama’s presidential inauguration, reports are in about well-known brands taking advantage of the occasion to promote themselves and their products (well I never!). I’ve read reports in the New York Times and have followed various links around the internet to bring you some great examples of Obama Inauguration branding…
I can report that Barak Obama has chosen not to appoint any official sponsors for the inauguration, which has left the brand marketeers with every opportunity under the sun to come up with exciting and innovative opportunities to associate their brands with the big event.
Plenty of opportunities for Obama-esque slogans inspired by “hope”, “yes you can” and “change”…

The IKEA Oval Office
Ikea have done a great job! They’ve created a makeover of the Oval Office at Washington’s Grand Union Station, complete with Ikea soft furnishing, furniture and accessories… a neat series of posters too.

Barack Obama Inauguration Hot Sauce
Described as ‘Old Pueblo Sauces 5 oz – be the FIRST to own this collectable Hot Sauce commemorating Inauguration Day for Barack Obama. Get em’ while their HOT!

Ben & Jerry’s Obama Ice Cream
Is this cool? Ben & Jerry’s unashamedly flagrant use of the Obama brand!
Pepsi
By happy coincidence, Pepsi are re-launching their brand at the same time as Obama’s inauguration. I guess the brand ‘re-fresh’ was just too big an opportunity to miss! As if this wasn’t enough, the marketing guys at Pepsi have even launched a website at www.refresheverything.com to really drive the message home…
Please comment below if you’ve seen any other worthy inauguration branding so I can add it to this blog.
